On Sunday 19th May 2024, Stody Lodge Gardens welcomed hundreds of classic vehicles, car enthusiasts and garden lovers for a sunshine-filled afternoon of motors, music and delicious food and drink.

The winning Vehicle of the Day was a beautifully restored Riley 1.5L. Rolly has owned the car since 2014 and lovingly restored it himself over two years.

Rolly Fields, said: ‘I have always had a love of these iconic little cars. Finding it and restoring it was very special. I have spent over 3,000 hours restoring it to as it was when it was made. This car is still absolutely in a class of its own.’

Guy Snelling, of Anglia Car Auctions (sponsors of Classic Vehicles at Stody Gardens) and Robert Easton of Easton Coaches, judged the award.

Guy Snelling, said: ‘This Riley is a really pretty, British, classic. It is very sporty and even has its own rev counter. It’s particularly special to see a car that has been restored by the owner to such a fantastic standard.’

Robert Easton, added: ‘This car has won today’s award because it has not just had money thrown at it, it’s had love and time as well.’

Thanks to the glorious May sunshine, Classic Vehicles at Stody Gardens was filled with car and garden lovers. All drivers of a classic vehicle were invited into the event for free where visitors were dazzled by Stody Lodge’s brightly coloured rhododendrons and azaleas, danced to rock tunes by DJ Jules and feasted on delicious food and drink from a range of local food stands such as The Bucket List Chips, Poke Nom street food and H V Graves burgers and sausages, as well as drinks by East Coast Bars.

Visitors were also wowed by 270 Harley Davidsons and other bikes who roared into Stody’s parkland as they concluded their 2024 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

Sales of delicious homemade teas by Norfolk and Waveney MIND, the mental health charity, raised a fantastic £3,480.

Kate MacNicol of Stody Lodge Gardens, said: ‘The team here worked really hard to make Classic Vehicles at Stody Gardens a success and I’m so pleased we raised such an amazing sum for Norfolk & Waveney MIND.
