The Secret Garden
This garden was created following the removal of some large, invasive conifers in 2006. It was established on the left of the Long Walk and has enjoyed a large amount of regeneration thanks to the increased light. Two cypress trees have been added and azaleas that had been restricted have now branched out and grown at an extraordinary rate. This has now been re-envisaged as a 'Secret Garden' for children to enjoy. In early 2015, some of the summer flowering shrubs as well as roses and azaleas were moved elsewhere in the garden to create a more spacious, enclosed lawn area. Stody’s signature rhododendrons and azaleas create a firm and brightly-coloured backdrop, giving a feeling of magic and secrecy (yet within earshot of the house.)
