Frequently Asked Questions
When are you next open?
Stody Lodge Garden will next be open to the public in May 2025
What are your opening dates and times?
We are now closed for 2024
How much is it per person?
Entrance is £9 per person, children under 12 free, unless otherwise specified.
How do I buy tickets?
Tickets are available via Ticketsource or by cash or card at the entrance gate.
Can I book to come on a date when you’re not open to the public?
If you are a group of over 6 people you are welcome to visit the gardens on another date in May. Please call the office to check availability. There may not always be catering facilities available when you visit, but toilets will be opened for you.
Are picnics allowed?
Picnics are welcome but please make sure you take your rubbish away with you.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs on leads are very welcome in the gardens. Please do not leave your dog in your car under any circumstances.
Do you rent out wheelchairs?
We are not able to provide wheelchairs, apologies.
Is the garden suitable for disabled or restricted mobility visitors?
There is good disabled access to most areas of the garden. A map is provided that shows the one area of the garden where there are two sets of steps that are easily avoided. There is a suggested route to the Azalea Water Gardens for users of wheelchairs or mobility scooters. We also provide disabled toilet in the car park and in the main gardens.
How large is the garden and how long does it take to visit?
The garden around the lodge is 7 acres in total and takes 45 minutes to visit. The Azalea Water Gardens are an 8 minute stroll along a well sign posted track. We recommend you allocate at least 2 hours to enjoy both gardens and some refreshments but many do visit in a shorter time.
When is the optimum time to visit to see the best floral display?
The gardens have different areas that are in flower throughout the month of May so there is always colour to enjoy whenever you visit and whether we have a late or early spring. Please check our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, X) for recent images of the flowers in the garden to help you decide when you would like to visit.
Is there a charge for the car park?
The car park is free for use.
Are there toilet facilities?
We provide standard and disabled toilet facilities in the gardens and also in the car park.
Do the homemade teas offer any savoury, gluten free or vegan options?
We encourage the charities providing our homemade teas to offer a wide variety of delicious homemade cakes and traybakes. They do occasionally offer some savoury items such as cheese scones but this is not guaranteed and there is certainly no ‘lunch’ offering. There may well be a limited availability of gluten free or vegan options but this is not guaranteed.
